Sept 21, 2005 Pfizer Japan Surveys Japanese Men Age Over 30 on Health and Sex Tokyo (JCN) - Pfizer Japan has announced the results of its latest online attitude survey of Japanese men on their health and sexuality. The company surveyed a total of 1,603 men aged over 30 across Japan in August. Of the respondents, about 80% said that they are in good physical health for past six months. Further, 98% of the respondents answered that they have never consulted a doctor about concerns over sexuality. About 90% of the respondents in their 30s do not think that they suffer from any disease. However, the number of respondents who have chronic disease increases in the older age groups; only 50% in their 60s answered that they have no chronic disease. Regarding sexuality, most of the respondents tend to sense a decline in their sexual function as they age. Specifically, 37% in their 30s and 62% in their 60s answered that they are concerned about a decline in sexuality. Meanwhile, more then 80% of the respondents wish that, if possible, they would like to keep sexually active for a long time although they understand their sexual activity level will decline as they age. When asked about how they treat sexual dysfunctions, only 9% of the respondents give positive consideration to the treatment at medical institutions. As for information they would like to know before consulting a doctor, 55% of the respondents cited the content of treatment, followed by price (53%) and privacy protection (39%). Moreover, as they get older, more respondents are interested in taking ED drugs: 28% in their 30s and 34% in their 60s. Meanwhile, 6.6% of the respondents admited that they have taken ED drug. Of the respondents, 7% have purchased drugs from online shops. When asked about reasons why they have used online shops, they mentioned convenience (68%) and lower price (49%). Meanwhile, 93% of the respondents have never purchased drugs via the Internet because they have no interest (40%), don't trust those shops (34%) and are concerned about side effects (30%) and quality (29%).
